On February 22, Fosun and Liangjiang New Area signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will cooperate in multiple fields such as life health, open economy, cultural tourism, and fund cooperation. This signing marks another in-depth cooperation between Fosun and Chongqing.

The initial partnership between the two parties can be dated back to 2002, when Fosun jointly established Chongqing Pharmaceutical Research Institute Co., Ltd. and established Yaopharma Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Yaopharma) in the form of capital increase and share expansion. Since then, Chongqing has become one of Fosun's key global strategic layout areas.

Fosun is an innovation-driven global family consumer industry group founded in 1992, with in-depth industrial layout in nearly 30 countries and regions around the world. Among them, over the 21 years since entering Chongqing market, Fosun's investment projects in the region have spanned multiple sectors including  health, finance, intelligent manufacturing, hive cities, science and technology innovation, with a total investment of more than 30 billion yuan.

An innovative anti-tumor targeted drug developed by Yaopharma was approved for clinical trials, and has made breakthroughs in technology, manufacturing and clinical aspects.

"After the successful launch of this drug, it will not only provide a better treatment option for liver cancer patients, but also reduce the economic pressure and medical insurance payment pressure on patients." Liu Qiang, Fosun Global Partner and Chairman of Yaopharma, said that with Fosun's continued strong support in technology, funds and other aspects, Yaopharma has focused on the development of innovative drugs in areas of liver diseases, antivirals, autoimmune conditions, etc. in recent years, and has made efforts in the layout of "new tracks" and achieved results.

In terms of innovative research and development in the treatment of cancer and metabolic diseases, Fosun's investment in Chongqing, Fochon Pharmaceuticals, has established multiple R&D pipelines, and multiple new drug projects have been approved for Chinese clinical new drug research, and have received government funds including the Ministry of Science and Technology's major national projects. An innovative drug has been approved for clinical trials recently.

So far, the health industry sector developed by Fosun in Chongqing has formed a full industrial chain with Yaopharma as the core, covering R&D centers, innovative drug bases and supporting production bases.

In recent years, Fosun has also worked closely with Chongqing in many industrial fields such as commerce, insurance, finance, culture and tourism, including building the Fosun International Center commercial complex in the Jiefangbei business district, promoting the Fosun United Health Insurance Branch to settle in Chongqing, establishing the Fosun Chongqing Fund and Chongqing Digital Industry Investment Fund in Chongqing to support the development of Chongqing enterprises, investing in Chongqing Pharmaceutical Holdings, etc. At present, Fosun's various development projects in Chongqing are accelerating.
